Mama-to-be’s baby shower was yesterday, so let me share with you guys! There was lots of cuteness, but here’s her opening Helena.
It was definitely a hit, and apparently there are also still staff members who didn’t know I knit. I think a few more realized that I’m not a beginning knitter. The reactions were hysterical.
In addition to the usual, “I wear a medium!” and “Can I hire you to make [insert ridiculously time-consuming and underpaid project here]” comments, I got an interesting professional lead though. I’ll post details if anything comes of it!

She looks thrilled. It would be interesting to make a chart of the amount of accumulated and time, effort and resource costs associated with making a given item for people at different ages, baby through oldster. Would it be an exponential curve? Some other shape? Maybe closer to a log graph.

I don’t think it could be a very regular shape, because there’s such a larger variety of sizes in adults compared to babies. Knitting for lil’ bitty me is very different than knitting for my 6’2″ ex-Navy father would be! It would definitely be interesting data regardless though.
